Mike Sharar Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Kerri Lynn (a Western alumna) and Tommy Inglesby to honor Mike Sharar (Jun 17, 1947 – March 24, 2009) who supported Kerri Lynn as an undergraduate when she felt she could no longer pursue her education. The scholarship is awarded annually to support students participating in a full-time internship during any quarter. 

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Applicant must be declared in a major within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

  2. Student must have a planned full-time internship (at least 20 hours per week) that is formally administered by the University

Application Process

2021-2022 Application and recommendation form links will be available March 1, 2021.

  1.  Applicant must complete and submit the Mike Sharar Scholarship Application.

  2. Included with the application, is a required essay in which the applicant describes describe how the planned internship will contribute to their education and their need for financial assistance during the internship.

  3. Applicant must arrange to have at least two Faculty Recommendation Forms submitted on their behalf by faculty of Western Washington University (up to three recommendations can be submitted). Students should submit one Faculty Recommendation Form to each individual.
