The Paul Woodring Arts & Sciences Scholarship was established to support students of exceptional talent who are enrolled in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) or the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) and who are recognized, by faculty members who know them, as likely to make substantial contributions to society as a result of their liberal arts education.

Only students who have been nominated by a department within CHSS or CSE are eligible to apply. 

 

Application Requirements

  1. You must be nominated by a department or program within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) or the College of Science and Engineering (CSE). Only one student can be nominated per department.
  2. Provide statements about your education goals, service activities, and significant accomplishments.
  3. Attach an essay (up to 1,500 words) in which you describe how you plan to use your liberal arts education to make a substantial contribution to society.
  4. Attach unofficial copies of your WWU transcript.
  5. The nominating department will submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf attached to an email to CHSS.scholarship@wwu.edu.
