About

Hello! I am an Associate Professor of Psychology and joined the Psychology department in Fall 2024, and the broader WWU community in 2017. I am a counseling psychologist by training and earned my PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara.  Broadly, my research is framed by intersectionality and I focus on identity development and wellness of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Queer (LGBTQ+), Latinx/e, and Queer/Trans People of Color (QTPOC) populations. I am also interested in how multicultural training of psychological practitioners at all levels can continually be improved by addressing issues of cultural competence and cultural humility.

I am the research lead for the Cultivating Understanding through Intersectional Research (or CUIR) lab and am (slowly) building up the lab and its focus. Feel free to reach out with any questions about my work or if you have any interest in joining the CUIR lab!
