About

Dr. Matthew Homer specializes in cultural rhetorics, rhetorics of whiteness, and technical and professional writing. The main question that drives his research is what happens when culture becomes content? From this vantage point, he investigates the ways whiteness controls meaning-making processes in digital environments. Moreover, his work is dedicated to social justice goals by pursuing avenues and potentialities of settler allyship towards decolonization and the inclusion of culturally diverse perspectives in rhetoric and composition research.

He has published on cultural practices of interface design and content circulation, and affective responses to social media. He received his PhD. from Virginia Tech in 2022.
