Online Course

Prerequisite: LING 310

Course Description: This is an inquiry-based exploration of the descriptive grammar of English. In addition to studying English sentence structure, we will investigate related topics, such as the influence of Standard English ideology on our attitudes and perceptions of language and speakers;  how and why to teach grammar in the multilingual K12 classroom; how technology is shaping and changing language, among other topics. You will come away with a set of tools to analyze language in all its representations, and the vocabulary to talk about it.
