Curriculum and Degree Requirements

 

Coursework is designed to provide students with breadth and depth in psychology, and provide ample opportunities to conduct research. Students are required to complete a minimum of 46 credits.

1. Students are required to complete the following courses:

  • PSY 501 - Behavioral Neuroscience (5)
  • PSY 503 - Cognition (5)
  • PSY 504 - Lifespan Psychological Development  (5)
  • PSY 505 - Social Psychology  (5)
  • PSY 512 - Correlation Methods and Data Analysis (5)
  • PSY 513 - Experimental Methods and Data Analysis (5)
  • PSY 584 - Research Design (3)
  • PSY 585 - Scholarship & Communication 1 (3)
  • PSY 586 - Scholarship & Communication 2 (3)
  • PSY 690 - Thesis (2 - 8)


2. Students are required to complete 5 credits of electives from the following:

  • PSY 517 - Advanced Multivariate Modeling (5)
  • PSY 582 - Practicum in Research in Psychology (1- 5)
  • Courses under advisement

 

3. Students must give one or more research presentations at a public forum (e.g., professional conference, PsychFest, colloquium as part of the thesis defense).
