Don Shelton is an Idaho native and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Idaho in 1976 before launching a 43-year career in newspapers. He was a reporter and sports editor at newspapers in Yakima and Bellevue, Wash., and was executive sports editor in Santa Rosa, Calif., before finishing his career in Seattle. He was sports editor and executive editor at The Seattle Times, retiring in 2019 after leading the digital transformation of the largest newsroom in the Pacific Northwest. Shelton also has taught Journalism at Idaho.
