Brian J. Bowe is a professor and serves as the current chair of the Department of Journalism at Western Washington University. Bowe’s research interests include journalism curriculum design, media framing and representations of Muslims in news content. He has extensive background in music journalism, writing books, liner notes and serving as editor of an online resurrection of the iconic CREEM magazine. Bowe also worked as a newspaper journalist in Michigan and New Hampshire and spent a decade in public relations. Bowe is a two-time Fulbright scholar, with appointments to Jordan and Palestine. He has taught internationally at the Sorbonne University in Paris, the American University in Cairo, and the University of Jordan in Amman. He also previously taught at Grand Valley State University and Michigan State University. He also served as the lead investigator on a U.S. State Department grants in Tunisia and Palestine.
