Student Checklist
Freshman and Sophomore Year
- Work on fulfilling university GURs
- Choose news/editorial, public relations, visual journalism, or environmental studies/journalism
- Declare journalism pre-major
- Meet with academic adviser
- Take JOUR 190, JOUR 207, and JOUR 214
- Plan for concentration topic, complete prerequisites for major courses
- Become familiar with the library and its resources
Junior Year
- Take 300-level classes required for sequence and two publications
- Start taking classes in concentration
- Declare major
- Transfer students: bring transcript to advisor for journalism credits
- Start planning/applying for internships
Senior Year
- Take 400-level classes required for sequence, internship & remaining publications
- Complete concentration
- Request major and minor evaluations 2 quarters prior to graduation
- Apply for graduation
General
- Apply for scholarships and internships
- If GPA drops below 2.5, see adviser immediately
