Transfer Students

Transfer credit policies, including transfer equivalencies for courses taken at other Washington state universities and community colleges are available on Western's Admissions website. The transfer course equivalency guide can be used to determine whether or not prior communication courses have a WWU Communication Studies course equivalency.

Students transferring from an institution outside of Washington or who wish to request an equivalency evaluation may ask for a review of any communication course by the department. To have a course reviewed, email Communication Studies Advising with the following information:

1. the name of the institution attended,
2. the communication course number, title, and course description,
3. the course syllabus, and
4. your full name and W#. 

Your request will be forwarded to a faculty advisor who will evaluate the equivalency. We will then email you regarding the decision.

We will also notify the Registrar’s Office if course equivalency is granted.
