Jean Y. Lee is a scholar of Caribbean and Asian American literature and women, gender, and sexuality studies. She specializes in Indo-Caribbean and Black feminisms. Her research focuses on how women's identities are formed by multiple and often competing loyalties and affiliations in the context of diaspora and migration. She has taught courses on Black feminism, queer Caribbean studies, postcolonial Caribbean literature, theories about water in Black diasporic literatures, African American literature, and literary theory.
