Mark became Dean of Libraries at Western Washington University in June 2013. Prior to arriving at Western, he served from 2001-2013 as Director of Special and Digital Collections and in several other leadership roles at the University of South Florida Tampa Library.  He has published and lectured extensively on immigrant/ethnic history in the American South. His articles appear in American Jewish History, American Jewish Archives, and The Georgia Historical Quarterly. In 2006 he co-edited Jewish Roots in Southern Soil: A New History (Brandeis University Press). His more recent work includes articles on data-driven decision making in Special Collections and “Open Access Publishing in Higher Education” published in the Journal of Educational Controversy (2015).
