Denham Family Linguistics Scholarship

The donors, staunch supporters of a liberal arts education, know the importance of education and its power to transform. The donors are pleased to provide some financial support to students who will think critically, analytically, and holistically, and who will strive to make any community they are a part of more just and equitable.

Eligibility

Full-time undergraduate linguistics majors enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per quarter at least one quarter of the 2023-2024 academic year are eligible to apply.

Completed scholarship application.

Awards

The expected award amount is typically $1,000. Funds are disbursed by the WWU Foundation in quarterly installments, contingent on full-time enrollment.

Anne Lobeck Linguistics Student Scholarship

This scholarship honors Dr. Anne Lobeck who retired from WWU in 2023 after 33 years at Western. She is an internationally recognized syntactician who also published in linguistics pedagogy and the integration of linguistics into primary and secondary education. Anne was also a committed teacher and mentor; her commitment to undergraduate education helped to make Western one of the best places to study linguistics in the country!
