WWU-UNLV Human Sexuality & Intimacies Lab

The Virtual Sexual Economies Project

The Virtual Sexual Economies Project examines the adult webcam industry. Specifically, we intend to understand the opportunities and challenges of camming for models, the ideas and practices of their clients, and the relationships the models and clients form. We are a collaborative team of university researchers with decades of combined experiences studying the sex industry from Western Washington University (WWU) and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). We are dedicated to advancing the interests of the women workers as well as their clients by directing our research towards both reducing the stigma against sex work and the consumption of sexual services, enabling the sex industry to become safer, more equitable, and more satisfying for both providers and consumers.
