2024 PSA Student Conference

Date

Location

Arntzen Hall 4th Floor

Join us for the 29th Annual PSA Student Conference, an exciting day of panels and presentations by Political Science students!  The event consists of panels in the morning and afternoon and a lunch hosted by the Political Science Association.  The culmination of the day is the annual Gordon Sandison Lecture, which will be given this year by Professor Grace Howard, Associate Professor of Justice Studies at San José State University.  Dr. Howard's talk, "The Pregnancy Police: Conceiving Crime, Arresting Personhood", highlights her work in reproductive law and policy, and examines the dimensions of legal personhood for people with the capacity for pregnancy.

Students are Encouraged to Submit a Proposal to Present!  The Political Science department invites submissions from students on a variety of Political Science research questions, topics, and methods.  Paper proposals should be based on a student research paper related to politics, broadly understood.  While papers presented at the conference (in most cases) were written for a previous political science course, any topics explored with a political element would be welcomed for this conference.

If you are interested in presenting at the conference, please submit a proposal to the department no later than April 22 (you can drop it off in AH 415 or send it by email to politicalscience@wwu.edu).  Proposals should be one paragraph in length summarizing the central ideas, themes, arguments, and/or findings of your paper; be sure to include your name and contact information.  If selected, your paper will be presented as part of a panel of other students at the annual PSA Conference on Tuesday, May 14th.
