About
Dr. Cheryl Matthew (she/her/elle) is a Two-Spirited Indigenous mother, author, instructor, professional and consultant who has specialized in Indigenous Rights, community engagement and public administration. She is Secwepemc from the Simpcw First Nation in the interior of British Columbia, Canada.
Her PhD research focused on understanding the continuum of varied experiences and practices of Indigenous people today in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada: ranging from those who are attached to a homeland, to those who view the city as home, and the variations between. The research also explored paths to decolonization and the role that practices play in cultural renewal, healing and transformation in communities.
