About the Political Science Minor
You can declare the Political Science Minor at any time. There are no prerequisites.
The Political Science Minor is a 25-credit program wherein students complete two of the core courses (PLSC 250, 261, 271, or 291) and at least ten credits of upper-division Political Science coursework. The remaining five credits can be for an additional core course, upper-division course, internship, or directed independent study credit.
A minor in political science complements a number of other majors across the social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, and professional degrees. It can enrich inquiry into the problems of sustainability, cultural diversity, and internationalization. Many students who are not majors take political science courses as an essential part of their liberal arts education. Political science coursework can complement other areas of study and prepare you for a host of domestic and international careers, such as NGOs, government agencies, and business. Further, students with a Political Science Minor may attend law school or graduate school in international business, international relations, public policy, and teaching.
