A Day on Capitol Hill

Beginning in 2019, the Ralph Munro Institute for Civic Education has taken Western students to Olympia for “A Day on Capitol Hill”. The program takes place over President’s Day weekend and has been led by former Washington Secretary of State Ralph Munro and Munro Institute Director Vernon Johnson.

Political Science majors participate in program activities such as a tour of the Capitol, observation of legislative debates, meetings with elected officials, and visiting TVW, Washington’s version of C-SPAN.  The culmination of the program is a dinner hosted by Ralph Munro on his farm on Puget Sound.

The program is generously supported by the Munro Institute for Civic Education and all transportation, accommodation and meal expenses are covered for student participants.
