WWU Associate Professor of Political Science Michael Wolff will have a cinematic debut of his film "Hot Lands: Capturing War in the Heart of Mexico" at the Pickford Film Center in downtown Bellingham at noon on Saturday, Oct. 30 as part of its annual "Doctober" film festival.  The film will be shown as a double feature with 499Rodrigo Reyes' "stunning doc-narrative hybrid centers around a time-traveling conquistador who experiences first-hand the challenges of the post-colonial world."

"Hot Lands" follows a photojournalist who is documenting the complicated, violent conflict, often hidden from the outside world, a conflict intimately connected not only to a history of drug cartels and failures by the Mexican government, but American markets and policy. Wolff will introduce his film, and then give a presentation, following the screenings of "Hot Lands" and of 499.
