Scholarships

In the past several years, alumni and former WWU faculty and staff have combined to sponsor several endowed scholarships. Numerous awards will be granted by the Sociology department in Spring Quarter 2024 for the next academic year (2024-2025).  Award amounts may vary but range between $500-$4500.

Ingeborg Paulus Scholarship 

This scholarship is awarded to a sociology major with a superior academic record.

Lucky Tedrow Demography Scholarship 

This scholarship is awarded to a sociology major with a superior academic record and an interest in the subfield of demography.

Blalock Scholarship for Outstanding Community Service 

This scholarship is awarded to a sociology major who has accomplished significant community service. Academic record is also considered.

Teresa LaFreniere Scholarship 

This scholarship is awarded to a high achieving sociology major.  Preference is given to students over the age of 30 or students of any age with dependents.  Preference is also given to those with financial need.

Sociology Alumni and Faculty Scholarship 

This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding Sociology major based on a combination of achievements inside and outside the classroom.

Academic Year Tuition Waiver

One academic year tuition waiver will be awarded to a high achieving student (must be a full time student).

Summer Internship Soc 371 Tuition Waiver

One tuition waiver for a summer internship (Soc 371) will be awarded.  Enrollment in Soc 371 is required.
